Re: memory

You can use the "mstm" or "xstm" (GUI) utility to find this out..

http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/otsearch/getfile?id=/hpux/onlinedocs/diag/logtool/lgr_commm.htm&searchterms=mstm&queryid=20041121-062814

xstm (gui) is far better and shows you a map of your memory carriers, what dimms are in which slots including their size.

export your display and type "xstm" .. navigate your way round... check out the man page for xstm or mstm (Support Tools Manager)

Re: memory

i have the following output
Memory Board Inventory

Extender
Slot Num Configured and Slot label for each DIMM (MB)
-------- --------------------------------------------
0a 2a 1a 3a 3b 1b 2b 0b
---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

EXT 0 512 256 256 0 0 256 256 512
------------------------------------------------------
System Total (MB): 2048

"

is this mean that i can add another two memories to my system , and if i want to add 2GB memory can i add one 2GB memory or i must add two 1GB memory to the system

Re: memory

hi,

see the following link for rp54xx series servers.
it gives a good documentation for installing memory, cpu ,etc..

http://docs.hp.com/hpux/pdf/A5191-96022.pdf

from the page installing memory.

â ¢ Memory must be installed in DIMM pairs.
â ¢ The capacity of DIMMs within a pair must be the same.
â ¢ Install DIMMs with the greatest capacity in the lowest slot numbers.
â ¢ Install DIMMs the following slot order: 0a/b, 1a/b, 2a/b, 3a/b, and so o

Re: memory

Hi,

In HP-Ux world you must populate memory in pair. If you want 2Gb more ram you need
2 X 1 GB.
Remember that you must populate memory
placing big memory moduls before small.
This mean that if you upgrade your memory with new memory. You must rearrange all memory moduls.
