Message in the syslog.log
I've the following message in the syslog:
EMS Monitor Restart ----- Title: dm_core_hw Command: /usr/sbin/stm/uut/bin/tools/monitor/dm_core_hw Vendor: Hewlett-Packard Company Version: B.01.00 To obtain a list of currently monitored resources, execute the following: /opt/resmon/bin/resdata -M 1998375097
When I execute the commnand
/opt/resmon/bin/resdata -M 1998375097 the output is:
/system/events/core_hw/core_hw
but it isn't a file or a directory.
What can I do?
Thank you. Bye.

Re: Message in the syslog.log
It looks to be only a warning message that the EMS (diagnostic) monitor daemons have been restarted, either due to a system reboot or someone manually restarting the emsagent. Nothing to worry about.
However, the command you ran is supposed to list the hardware devices you are monitoring, and if this file is blank (or doesnt exist) then youre not monitoring anything. You need to run the following command and turn on hardware monitoring;
/etc/opt/resmon/lbin/monconfig
Its easy to follow, all menu driven.

Re: Message in the syslog.log
/system/events/core_hw/core_hw is not a file (despite it looks so due to the well known meaning if slashes). It seems to be a module within EMS that performs checks on availability or healthness of the known systems hardware.

Re: Message in the syslog.log
perhaps you should have a look into your crontabs, if there is a job which restarts the EMS every day. In logfile, you could check if the time is allways the same. If so, have a look into all scripts which are run via cron at this time.
Allways stay on the bright side of life!

Re: Message in the syslog.log
There was a bug in this routine at one time which meant that it was restarted every 15 minutes.
It was cured with [PHSS_23066/PACHRDME/English] s700_800 11.00 OnlineDiag/Support Tool Manager
Patch
which has a dependency patch of
[PHCO_22628/PACHRDME/English] s700_800 11.X HP Array Manager/60 cumulative
patch.
Regards,
John

Re: Message in the syslog.log
Check your online diag version and upgrade it to newer than Sep 01.
Thanks.
