mgdiff on HPUX

On Thru64 mgdiff exists to bring a graphical presentation of the diff-command. Can the same be used on HPUX (11.23) ? Or is there an equivalent ?

This might be along the lines of what you're looking for:

Sorry about the multi-part answer, I keep finding more. This looks like exactly what you want:

Re: mgdiff on HPUX

I always liked Tru64's dxdiff and used
to use it extensively for read-only activities
like code reviews.

If you are an emacs or vi user, you might
be tempted to switch from mgdiff to emacs ediff mode
or vim which has a nice diff mode as well.

Re: mgdiff on HPUX

Thanks for your answers all.

I had found some of them myself already. However I was hoping on finding a compiled version for HPUX11.23 on Itanium.

Any chance ?

Re: mgdiff on HPUX

You could try sending mail to the porting and archive center to request an IA
kit.

Alternatively, if you don't want
to build it from source, try installing
the PA version. It should run under
Aries (haven't tried that myself though).

Re: mgdiff on HPUX

the util that worked best for me on hpux was xxdiff
I have installed it on 10.20, 11.00, and 11.11. 11.23 is planned.

http://furius.ca/xxdiff/

"This program has been written and inspired after gdiff, mgdiff, and Rudy Wortel's xdiff under SGI. xxdiff aims to provide a lasting open-source replacement ..."

The only (big) disadvantage is the need of Qt3, and thus g++ and tmake, but it pays off if you'd ask me. Using it on a daily basis. Then again, mgdiff is Motif based, and I don't like that at all.

I very much disliked all the others (xdiff, tkdiff, mgdiff, kdiff3, ...) when I was looking for it, but that was long ago. Things may have changed for the better of any of xxdiff's compatitors.
