Migrating a database from V -class to Superdome
Hi All ,
I am having a 9000/800/V2600 server. It has the following configuration.
No of CPU : 20
CPU Speed : 552 MHZ
Memory : 20Gb
Utilization:
Average Utilization Maximum
Processor 48% 56%
RAM 64% 64%
Disk 85% 100%
Swap 44% 44%
I have to migrate the database to superdome server.its SD32A server. We are planning to create a new N-PAR.
Can anyone help in Hardware planning ,like No of cpus are required to match the 20 CPU of V-Class and memory.
Also help me on what basis the conversion of cpu from V-Class to Superdome will be done.
Expecting your valuable informations.
Regards
Arun.K

Re: Migrating a database from V -class to Superdome
"SD32A" says almost nothing. This is a 1 cabinet box. This could be a HP9000 with PA-RISC CPU's (PA-8800 or PA8900) or even a sx1000 Integrity with (again different) Itanium CPU's.
What do you have?
IMHO you should plan at least the same amount of memory.
You will use a higher revision of the OS - consider to plan more memory!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Migrating a database from V -class to Superdome
The SUperdome has the following:
Current config :
Model : 9000/800/SD32A
No of Partitions 1 npar
No of cell boards 4
No of I/O cards 2
Processor Details
Name PA 8800
Speed 1000 MHZ
Quantity 4 CPU /Cell .. Total 16 CPU
Memory Details
Size 24 GB /cell Total = 96 GB
Swap Size 276 GB
Server Utilization (%)
Average Max
Processor 23% 27%
RAM 28% 28%
Disk 18% 39%
Swap 5% 5%
Kindly suggest me whether i can go ahead with same npar with adding few resource.
I though of going for new NPAR,could any one help me how to go for a hardware planning. How many cpu should be added to match the no of cpu in V class.
