Re: Minimum Requirements

To install or update HP-UX 11.0, the minimum disk space requirement is
1 GB, and the minimum RAM requirement is 32 MB. The recommended disk
space to install or update for HP-UX 11.0 is 2 GB, and the recommended
RAM is 64 MB. In an update situation, the disk usage numbers can vary
by a factor of 20%, depending on the installation. Make sure your
target disk has enough space for the new operating system as well as
your data files and any needed backups.

When updating from HP-UX 10.20 to 32-bit HP-UX 11.0, you will need the
following additional disk space:

/usr - 120 MB additional
/var - 5 MB additional
/opt - 55 MB additional

The swinstall script performs a disk space analysis and should warn
you if you do not have enough space to complete the install; however,
the disk space analysis does not check /var/adm/sw (where the database
is kept) for temporary space usage.

If you are using Logical Volume Manager (LVM), and /var comprises a
single logical volume, be sure that the /var volume is configured with
enough space to handle the update files. An update requires a minimum
of 20 MB of free disk space.

Re: Minimum Requirements

My minimum requirements for an installation that would perform reasonably well would be 256MB RAM and a minimum of a 9GB disk drive.

A better choice would be 512 MB RAM and an 18GB disk drive.

Anything less than 256 MB RAM, in my opinion at least, is not worth the trouble.
