mirroring different volume groups
For example:
vg00:
c0t5d0
c0t6d0
mirrored to:
vg01:
c1t5d0
c1t6d0
....rather than the usual vgextend /dev/vg00 ...
then mirroring the logical volumes?

That is because mirrors are "extended" allocated blocks which have to reside in the same volume group.

You cannot mirror lv between diffent VG's. The primary and the mirror copy should be part of the same VG. can be on different disks.

I was hoping, however minute, that there's somebody out there who was able to pierce through MirrorDisk/UX and practically created their own unsupported version of MirrorDisk/UX to allow them for mirroring to do whatever they wanted.
