mirroring

hi,

the problem is:
I have 3 luns on FC60 mirror to VA7400. The total size of the 3 LUNs is about 240gb. The FC60 and VA7400 is link with fibre channel (fc). the whole mirroring took about more than 5 hrs. Isn't the throughput of fc 2gbs? mirror/ux is just the copying of raw data, why is it that slow?

Please advice.

Thanks.

Re: mirroring

The throughput of fibre channel depends. FC is not always 2gb (that's 2 giga-bits which is roughly 170 MB [mega bytes per sec]), it could be 1gb, 4gb or even 10gb. Like I said, it depends on your hardware.

The speed of the mirroring depends upon the following factors:
Speed of disk reads
Speed of disk writes
Other IO activity
Fibre Channel speeds

The SLOWEST link is the DISK DRIVE. This means you could have a 10gb FC interface and you still aren't going to push data to the disk drive any faster than it handle.
