Missing root password for VSP

Hi,

We have a vsp called server1-vsp.

It has off of it four partitions:

server1a

server1b

server1c

server1d

server1b has been rebooted but it seems to have got stuck somewhere. The other three partitions are fine.

I am unable to get onto server1-vsp to check as the root password for dehp022-vsp isn’t working.

I am however able to get onto server1-bl.

How do I reset the password for server1-vsp?

Re: Missing root password for VSP

What is server1-bl? Is that a typo for server1b? (i.e. one of the VMs/vPars?) Or is it the name you assign to the iLO console for server1-vsp?

Anyway - if you have no way of getting back to the root user for server1-vsp, you're going to have to halt all the VMs/vPars and then power cycle the server from the console, go to single-user mode and reset the root password there.

This is why you should make sure you either have root passwords memorised, or a copy is available secured in a physical location (usually a safe which requires two individuals to access). I'm assuming sudo is also not available on this system?
