Any good ideas on monitoring a systems while away. On my currect project, they did not purcase ITO/OVO operations. So, Im kinda flying in the blind here. So far, I have come up with ping script from the SMS, but that like stone age compared to ITO. Any great ideas out there?
Thanks

Solution
Sure - we used this prior to installing OVO - and we use it as a backup when we take OVO down for maintenance:

Re: Monitoring System
I've got to agree with BigBrother. We've used it here for ~3 years, and it's done the job.
Plus, there are a pile of scripts at www.deadcat.net for use with BB as well.

Re: Monitoring System
I have good experience with Big Brother. It was used by a customer in the banking area to monitor their Web-systems.
It proofed that it could do the job for more then 4 years.
Another customer I worked with we did not have ITO as well end we developed some ksh scripts that send out emails when somthing was wrong or send 3 times a day an email when it was OK. The email-scripts were ideal for monitoring special applications but is was not that fency as Big Brother.
Hopes this help to decied what to do.
