Mutlitech MT5600 Modem

Hello,

I've got a problem connecting a Multitech Modem MT5600 to an HP-UX 11.00 system. The modem is now connected. I can kermit to the modem. But when i try to call in on the system i don't get a prompt. What's wrong ?.

Re: Mutlitech MT5600 Modem

Hi,

You will need to configure the modem as well as setting up a getty.

To configure the modem you will need to send an appropriate config string (using Kermit.) If you have a MT5600ZDX and don't wish to use CCITT the following string is one that I generally use:

AT&F0&D3&K5$SB19200&W0

This resets the modem when DTR is dropped, enables transparent XON/XOFF control, sets the modem's serial port speed to 19200 and saves the settings. Remember that your getty speed must match the modem's serial port speed.

There may be other customisation that you require from the modem, check the instruction book. These are also available online from http://www.multitech.com

regards,

Darren.
