N-class boot device

Is it possible to use a SAN disc as a boot device?

Re: N-class boot device

Yes it is, but you need the minimum 11.00.06 driver to do so. Assuming you have the A5158A card:

Have a look at http://www.software.hp.com/cgi-bin/swdepot_parser.cgi/cgi/displayProductInfo.pl?productNumber=A5158A

Re: N-class boot device

It is dependent from the firmware of your HBA, too. Check it with HP or your vendor, if your HBA and SAN Storage support bootable disks.

Re: N-class boot device

If you are using EMC disks, I know it is possible with A5158A or the 2 GB card, that I am too lazy to crawl on the floor to look at. We are booting from symm for multiple V-Class and Nclass environment.
