Need test for DTC

Is there a simple way to tell if a DTC has a hardware problem - vs - a software problem?

16 port DTC has ports 0-7 not working and 8-15 working.
I would like to test to determine if its the hardware.

Thanks for any advice

Re: Need test for DTC

Have you done a sysdiag yet?
If it reports a G, then it means the port is good.

Also, have you tried switching the 0-7 and 8-15 ports on the back?

Not a lot of help, but some.

Yep, indeede do!

Turn it off, then turn it on. It will go through a full hardware self check before downloading it's configuration from the computer. The lights will tell you want is wrong. Also, the idea of swapping the boards and repeating the test is not a bad one. This would eliminate a bad backplane.

Re: Need test for DTC

One time I had a bad terminal connected to a DTC that made that board fail, even after power cycling.

Try disconnecting all serial ports off the problem board on the DTC when you power cycle.

Re: Need test for DTC

You must power off the dtc and power on and look the display. If the number is 0 or 1 the dtcis OK. If the number is 7 you have a error in port 0-7, and if your display have a 7 and a point the error is in port 8-15.
In /opt/dtcmgr/doc you have files with code of error & in /var/opt/dtcmgr/log the log files.
