Re: Need to perform pull install from ignite server

boot the box from the console.

interupt at the 10 second prompt

boot lan.192.168.0.10 install

That has to be a valid ip address above.

As of my last check you can only boot Ignite off the built in Network card, not add in cards.

You may need a switch to connect the ignite client and server to pull off the boot.

You still need the server fully configured with Core Os and an install image.

Re: Need to perform pull install from ignite server

Just went through this on rx4640 systems running 11.23

Setup the Ignite server as a DHCP/PXE boot server. Go through SAM to do this, I did not have any luck in the boot configuration as stated in the Ignite docos.

I am assuming that you have done the 'make_net_recovery -s -x inc_entire=vg00' command.

Once you have the DHCP/PXE server configured, you can boot the client from the LAN and the Ignite server will respond allowing you to reload the OS onto the client.

Re: Need to perform pull install from ignite server

Some additional info from my research.

The ia64 firmware does not support the "direct boot" method that PA RISC firmware does. When you do a network boot from the EFI, the 1st bootp server to respond wins.

In my configuration, I made the Ignite server the DHCP/PXE boot server as well. Once the client system boots, you can watch the Ignite GUI and see the progress on the Ignite server.
