netscape communicator

I am running 10.20 OS,
ns-communicator 4.03
ns-fasttrack 3.01

I installed SAS 8.2 and had to install communicator 4.78 in a separate directory to fix a display problem with the SAS help screens.

The Q I have is, can I make 4.78 the default version of communicator and still have fasttrack at version 3.01?

TIA

Re: netscape communicator

If you want to use the newer version of Netscape as the default on your HP-UX box, just edit your PATH variable, either in your .profile, .cshrc, .login or /etc/PATH and add the path to the new version of Netscape and remove the path to the old version.

Now every time you type netscape at the prompt, you will get the newer version.

Re: netscape communicator

Thanks Patrick,
If I do that I know I get the newer version of netscape. Will it have any adverse effects on fasttrack? Is there any interaction between netscape communicator and netscape fasttrack?
The two are in different directories.
I do not use either product on the UNIX machine so I am unsure if there is a problem having one, or the other, or both.
TIA

Re: netscape communicator

Using the new version of Netscape should have no ill effects on Fasttrak. THe only thing I know of that Fasttrak uses Netscape for is to display the Fasttrak configuration and management stuff. That should still work fine with the newer Netscape.
