Network config and performance
I am trouble shooting a database and application performance issue. A pc app that communicates via tcp and odbc is generating rcp errors and either timing out or taking extremely long to connect or return data. The issue is intermitent and time response can vary.
I'd like to eliminate network config and the network in general. We will put a sniffer on a pc and by pass the usual switch tomorrow to separate out the physical network.
I am concerned that recent changes to the machine (11.00 to 11.11 and swapping hosts names as well as ip address) did not take all services and config's into account.
If someone can point me to various area's to explore, I'd appreciate it. I recently posted a question about the netconf file and I believe it the consensus was it was adequate.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide,
Doug

Re: Network config and performance
One area to look into is DNS at your unix host and at the users PC's. Especially since you changed host names and IP's.
Also your applications might need some looking into. If you are using oracle, have a dba look at tnsnames.
