Re: Network Problem
I want to say you have a hardware problem but having both members of the apa configuration going bad at the same time, is very hard to believe unless you see smoke coming out of your system
It may be related to a firmware issue. If you have a chance, shutdown the system to a halt and remove power for a few minutes and power the server back up to have a clean slate. If at this time it comes back up (without apa of course) you can at least rule out the bad hardware.

Re: Network Problem
Try grepping for "57" in the file /usr/include/sys/errno.h - that won't fix the problem, but it will give you a better idea of what is going wrong.
One thing to consider is that you didn't specify any PPA in your linkloop commands, so who knows which interface it actually tried. Might be a good idea to add the specification of the interface to the command line.
