NFS

I am trying to setup a network share on my HP-UX to a windows 2000 machine. On the windows 2000 machine I am using NTFS and on the HP-UX it is NFS. Is this possible and if so how can it be done? When I try to do it I get the following error...RPC_PMAP_FAILURE - RPC_TIMED_OUT.

Re: NFS

Lisa,

You will need some other software to tie the two together in a since.... the first that come to mind is Samba. If not go with the more expensive option and get a network filer.

Re: NFS

You need to setup another application to share files between windows and HP-UX. Most recommended would be Samba or CIFS. Doing a search inside the forums for either will provide helpfull information for installing and configuration.

Good Luck.

Re: NFS

I have numerous HPUX 11.x boxes using cifs/9000 which is an HP package of Samba. You can download it for free from HP;

http://www.software.hp.com/NSM_products_list.html

Select cifs/9000 server.

This makes your HPUX 11.xx box look like a Windows server on the LAN. Very well documented and widely used.
If it has wheels or a skirt, you can't afford it.

Re: NFS

Hi
An alternative to Samba, particulary if there is only a few users, is a ftp client (for example Reflection). Reflection is not freeware but an advantage with this is easier configuring the server (you only need ftp acess).

I know it is possible to use ftp on Windows without any additional software but only command line. With Reflection you get a file manager interface.
