nfsstat question
Hi,
I've been looking at the output of nfstat -rc and I noticed that I have timeouts and badxid's, but no retrans. Why wouldn't I have retrans if a call times out?

Re: nfsstat question
A guess might be the protocol being used. UDP protocol vs TCP protocol. NFSv3 vs. NFSv2

Re: nfsstat question
Our system is using ver 2 over udp. I makes sense that the retrans probably won't happen with udp. Would it safe to say that the timeouts are a result of a physical cable problem? I don't think the nfs server deamon is going up and down.

Re: nfsstat question
The client RPC requests are timing out before the server can answer them.
Can increase the timeo parameter and/or reduce the NFS buffer size.
First step however would be to swap the cables. Could very well be a bad cable.
