NIC reporting 10mbps

I have an K360 which is froced to work in 100mbps
in /etc/rc.config.d/hpgsc100 is set as 100mbps and full duplex. It is connected to the switch where the port is configured to work in 100mbps. The card part no is J3514A. My problem is the card is reporting as 10 mbps if I see through lanadmin -s .But the perfomance of the network card is as same as it is working as 100mbps.why is that so?

Re: NIC reporting 10mbps

lanadmin -s has been known to be sometimes unreliable. What is the output of
#lanadmin -x PPA/NMID
^11. ^10.20

Re: NIC reporting 10mbps

Interesting problem.

Have you tried using lanadmin -S to reset it to 100000000 ?

There are some patches for lanadmin out, are you running an uptodate patch bundle ?

As long as you have it set to 100 in your config file in /etc/rc.config.d then thats whats most important, and if youve verified all your lancards - if you have a 100Mb lan card on a K class you must have a 10Mb also - what does lanscan show, and did you check lanadmin -s on both your lancards ?
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...

You might also be looking at the wrong card. Run a lanscan to see the list of cards installed and check for correct hardware path. All K-series have a built-in 10Base-T card on the Core I/O board. I always use the lanadmin -x "nmid" to check that my card is locked to 100FD.

Good luck,

Re: NIC reporting 10mbps

Hi,
Stefans's response to lanadmin -S is not supported for changing speed/duplex on the 100BT cards, you have to use lanadmin -X 100FD nmid/ppa to hard set to 100Full. Verify current speed/duplex with lanadmin -x nmid/ppa.

Here is a VERY HANDY URL for HP 100BaseT (Fast Ethernet) issues:

Hope this helps,
