I think you can change the shell only
in the password file on the nis server.

Solutionhp-ux is not having the separate command as like ypchsh. By default chsh is supporting to change the shell permanently as,
chsh -r nis login-name [shell]
see the chsh(1) man page to know more about change the shell type.
