NIS slave Server
Cannot enter my NIS Slave server name into NIS.

How did you configure the NIS client.
ypinit -s servername, /var/yp/secure* os master, /etc/rc.config.d/namesvrs...
please give more info.

Robert,
Are you trying to create a NIS slave or just trying to update the host information? If the later, then just update /etc/hosts on the NIS master with the IP address and hostname of the NIS slave and then do a /var/yp/ypmake hosts to push out the map.

Hi,
can't enter my NIS slave name into NIS?
is it NIS client/master?
while in master, during configuring the master, you have the option to setup the slave.
wherein you need to give ip and host name of the slave. at this time both ip and host name entry will be made in /etc/hosts file by the system.
In case of client, you have the option to bind to either slave or master using ypset(/etc/rc.config.d/namesvrs)
