o_sync_is_o_dsync

I have read in that changing the kernel parameter o_sync_is_o_dsync=1 will help increase performance on large Oracle installations. I understand there is also a possible risk involved if there is a system crash. Has anyone had any experience with this parameter and the possible risks.
