Oki Printer Question
We have a bunch of Oki 321 printers that we have OkiLan cards on. When I do an lps if one of the oki printers is offline or anything, the lps command hangs for like 5 minutes and I cant continue. Is there a setting somewhere that I can shorten this time to like 1 second? Either its there or its not, so sense to keep searching. HPUX 10.20 on an HP9000 K220. Thanks!

Re: Oki Printer Question
The simple answer is "Nope, never seen one".
Why?
The wait is caused by the Unix server trying to reconnect to the server. Basic remote print functionality. Unix servers check printer availability each time a print command is issued. I.E. lpstat, lpadmin, and of course when printing to the device.
It is no different than a PC after you submit a print job to a dead printer. both systems hang waiting for an active connection before telling you there is none.
Regards,
Shannon
