Open View error
The Open View admins are out today, however, I am a Unix, Syabase developer with little knowledge of openview. When they type in ovw at the prompt the message that come up is...
Cannot open object database. Cannot connect to database. We cannot connect to an ovwdb daemon on the server xxxx apparently due to network problems. Could be cause by problem with IP routing, server host is down, or unknown server host name.
All was ok for them this morning and all of the sudden ovw locked up and this is the message they get now when trying to access. Thanks for tour help.

Re: Open View error
Do an ovstatus -c to see that all the services are up.
If not, do the ovstart command.
If not, do the ovstart command.

Re: Open View error
If oovstatus -c indicates that there is no problem, there could be a database issue. If any of the processes are Not Running, perform the following
ovstart -v
This will restart any Failed Daemons.
If the Daemons are OK, and you still cannot connect to the Database, then try this command, as root.
su - oracle -c "dbstart"
(You can also try this as the Oracle User, or owner of the database).
If the problem is a database issue, this command will indicate the problem.
Hope that helps.
