Oracle Install giving missing patch requirements

When im installing oracle 10.2.0.1, i get the following. I have downloaded the patches from the itrc site. However when i try to install these it gives me a prequisites missing errors. However i dont know where to get the prequisites.

Checking recommended operating system patches
Checking for PHSS_31849; found Not found. Failed <<<<
Checking for PHSS_31852; found PHSS_31852. Passed
Checking for PHSS_32511; found Not found. Failed <<<<
Checking for PHSS_32512; found Not found. Failed <<<<
Checking for PHSS_32513; found Not found. Failed <<<<
Checking for PHSS_32740; found Not found. Failed <<<<
Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<<
Problem: Some recommended patches are missing (see above).

The prequisites required are:
HP aC++ compiler 3.63
ANSI C Compiler B.11.11.12
+04/PBO Compiler
Service Guard A.11.16.00
COM B.03.00.00
linker + fdp

Where can i get these, or are they even needed?

Re: Oracle Install giving missing patch requirements

Get the patches from http://www.itrc.com

To meet the prequisites, install/update the products from the application CD set.

Again, check the installed versions and compare.

You already know how to do this.

Hope this helps!

You may get some info here..

I am not sure if Service Guard is a must for Oracle.

Re: Oracle Install giving missing patch requirements

hi

It's also possible that patch are present but supersed by patch most recent

Check on itrc.hp.com, maintenance for hpux, find a specific patch

verify on server by

swlist -l fileset |grep -i phss_xxxxx

Re: Oracle Install giving missing patch requirements

thing is i cannot install the latest Patch bundles, as our developers need to keep the machines at the lowest version possible for the Applications to run, to provide that our application has the correct requirements listed.

Re: Oracle Install giving missing patch requirements

In other words, this gives me an impression that Oracle 10.R2 is incomptiable with your application as Oracle need patch and app doesnt allow it.
I will suggest for long testing on a test system.

Re: Oracle Install giving missing patch requirements

Your application needs buggy versions?

Normally, a patch resolves issues. The behaviour should not be changed!

Do a test installation and discuss this with your developers.

Hope this helps!

Re: Oracle Install giving missing patch requirements

no we dont need buggy versions. We keep the Os at lowest we can while developing the software, as a lot of the people we develop software dont patch theyre systems for a year or two at a time.

Regardless, it turns out the only three i couldnt get installed were the

aC++ Compiler (3.63) - version 3.65 wwas installed

C-ANSI-C (11.23.08) - version 11.23.09 was installed

+04/PBO compiler - newer version installed.

Im just wondering why HP-UX didnt pick up the fact there were newer versions installed. Is this a common issue?

>I'm just wondering why HP-UX didnt pick up the fact there were newer versions installed.

It did. It wouldn't install your patches.
If by "pick up" you mean swinstall didn't say "your current patch has been obsoleted", swinstall doesn't have that advanced AI technology.

>Is this a common issue?

Yes, it is common to Oracle.

Otherwise savy aC++ users go to the secret decoder ring for version info: ;-)
