Patch Java first or after installation?

I need to install a java 1.6 .
i Want know if the patch for java must be
installed first java installation or
after java installation? Or is it not important?

Patches required from java 1.6 should be installed before java.

Yes but i have many server with java already installed without a java patch.
Now i can install patch or i must uninstall java install patch and reinstall java?

Yes. Especially if you aren't using java.

1. install java version xyz

2. install patch for the version xyz.


but if you are talking abou OS patches, them the patches should be installed before you install the java but only the patches are prerequirements.

There probably isn't any, unless you try running that java before you install the patches.

But if you have a choice, you should install the patches first, or at the same time.

You can do either.

The best way to go is install OS patches prior to java installation.
