Patch PHCO_25418

Good Morning

Having installed the latest version of Ignite (4.1.61) I need to install the pax patch PHCO_25418. For whatever reason (which I would dearly like to know!), the only two systems which do not have this patch already, are of course, production machines. Hence I do not have a system to test the it.

Has anybody had any problems installing this patch and can you confirm that as no reboot is required am I ok to just go for it?

The dependency PHKL_22677 (PHKL_19991's supercede) is installed.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Re: Patch PHCO_25418

Hi Keely,

you should install this patch since Ignite uses pax for creating/extracting the archive and in this patch there have been some problems fixed with suid handling (from patchtext):

When using pax's copy mode, -rw, SUID/SGID bits are not
restored.
Example -- (current user is ville)

And yes, it does *NOT* require a reboot since it only installs 3 files (static binary, dynamic binary and the catalog file).

And it has a rating of 3 ...

Jochen

Re: Patch PHCO_25418

Hi,

please go the the patchdatabase in ITRC and look for the patch PHCO_25418. This patch has a lot of dependencies and you need an reboot because there are some kernle patches depending on PHCO_25418. But the patch has no warning, so installing this patch shouldn't impact your system negatife.

If you have all the software filesets then it should install just the fileset of this pax patch and reboot is not required
If one of the patches above mentioned is missing then it should be dependent on that whether reboot is required or not.

I downloaded and installed the patch which had all the pre-requisite patches as mentioned above.

The attachment is the swagent.log.As all the pre-requisite filesets were there no reboot required and the installation was successful.

Re: Patch PHCO_25418

Hi Keely,

if you have the dependency PHKL_22677 installed there are no further patches needed since all the dependencies of PHKL_22677 are already installed too ...

So no, there should not be a problem.

Jochen

Re: Patch PHCO_25418

Yes,

Hueuer is right!

If you have PHKL_22677 installed then you can go ahead in installing this patch which should be okay without reboot.

make sure you check the swagent.log file during the installation analysis.

Also make sure you leave the default option (where the re-install filesets is not enabled)

thanks
