Patch PHSS-22514

I am having an application which uses Oracle 8.1.7 and ODBC data direct driver. It is documented that the patch PHSS_22514 be installed for Oracle connectivty issues (HP-UX 11.11 to Oracle 8.1.7).

But I also stumbled across many discussions in HP intranet where it is sugegsted not to install this patch.

Would like to know , which other patch needs to be installed.

The patch has been superseded by the following patch:

There are a number of required OS patches and dependencies for Oracle 8.1.7, the last stable version is 8.1.7.4, which is out of Oracle support.
