Re: patch rebooting

The PHKL patches always take a reboot.

The others, PHNE, PHSS, & PHCO are varied.

Re: patch rebooting

No, for the most part, just the ones that modify the kernel itself, the PHKL ones

Re: patch rebooting

No, it depends upon the nature of the patch. If you look at the release notes for a giver patch, you will see "Automatic Reboot: Yes (or No)". Essentially, if you see PHKL_XXXX, these will always require a reboot as well as most PHNE_XXXXX patches.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: patch rebooting

You can also ask the .depot package itself using swlist:

e.g.
swlist -a is_reboot /tmp/PHKL_30398.depot PHKL_30398

man swlist for details.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: patch rebooting

Ooops, that should be:
e.g.
swlist -a is_reboot -s /tmp/PHKL_30398.depot PHKL_30398
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: patch rebooting

Hi Shiv

No, all kind of patches do not need rebooting of server. It is mainly the kernel patches like PHKL_ which require reboot

Re: patch rebooting

Hi Shiv,

No, only kernel related patches (i.e patches starting with PHKL_) requires a reboot.
