Re: Performance snapshots

Ralf,

Well, you have the traditional Unix tools like vmstat, iostat, swapinfo, sar and the like. And then you have Glance and MeasureWare: Glance for real-time monitoring, MeasureWare for extended monitoring. There are also some other proprietary tools like the one from Lund. What in particular are you looking for?

Re: Performance snapshots

sar may be the easy way, and it's fairly robust.

You can set it up to maintain a history as well.

see man sa1 for details.

Re: Performance snapshots

I just tested few days ago SARCHECK (sarcheck in google u will find it...)
It's based over sar and it's very very impressive...Lots of details and explanations to improve performances...
It's an evaluation copy for the start, i recommand this tool for u, easy to use and install and remove ;-)

Re: Performance snapshots

Ralf,

SAR is the best tool that can be used be for collecting data and analysing the performance whereas if you want pictorial view of how your System is Performing then Glanceplus is the best option. Pain of collecting data and analysing reduces a lot but it's purchased product.
