Phantom Disk -Not Initialized

Hi Friends,

wishing all users a happy new year

I have a problem in HP ds2405 diskstation VA7400
which is connected to three HP L1000 servers through FC Switch.
The Amber LEd on the diskstation keeps glowing. When I checked the launcher .Normally there were two enclosure 1 main and other JBOd .Now there is one more jbod enclosure with 1 disk.the enclosure is named phantom disk enclosure in the disk PA/D1 appears as not getting initialized. There are 15 hdd in main enclosure and 9 hdd in jbod .the status of all hdd are fine.

The servers are working fine without any error. But the syslog files shows some hard disk failure error .I am attached the file .

Is there any hardware failure???what can be done to isolate the problem.
what r these phantom disks and how have they been created in the array?

awaiting ur reply.

Re: Phantom Disk -Not Initialized

You need to start using the: Assign Points -- this will get you better responses here...

also, I can not read your attached file..

btw, SCSI errors will show the h/w errros related to the IO divice..

send the forum any info on the ioscan.. explain:

run the command:

ioscan -fn

Re: Phantom Disk -Not Initialized

Hi.

Could you post the relevant sections of the
armdsp -a report

Also see if there is anything relevant in your armlog.

Re: Phantom Disk -Not Initialized

Shalom,

ideas:
1) Sometimes the disk array gets detected as a disk, usually LUN0. Since its not a disk, it shows failed. This is possible.

2) Have you run pvcreate -f on the disk yet?
