Re: Please Post Forums Issues - December 2005

Shalom,

I can't seem to find the threads that follow this excellent sysadmin script thread:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=178514

I THINK, I went through Bill's profile very carefully. Most likely it's me, but can anyone find the other two threads and let me know where they are. They are a real time saver.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - December 2005

Hi,

I have received attached mail. I am sorry but I do not understand. I did not want to ruin the perfect point distribution of Drew Dimmick and so I posted a link to the other forum. I find it rather smallminded to delete that.

Michael

Dear Michael Schulte zur Surlage,

We appreciate that you are a registered user of the HP Support Forums, and see you have recently utilized the Support Forums service. However, your message 'Link to congrats thread of the new Olympian Drew Dimmick' had to be removed due to one or more of the following reasons.

1. You had requested the removal of your message.
2. The message was a duplicate posting.
3. The message contained advertising of goods or services.
4. The question was off-topic and did not align with the charter of the HP Support Forums.
5. Language, personal rants, or material deemed abusive, defamatory or obscene.
6. The posting contained private information on other users and/or HP employees.
7. Other reasons deemed necessary by the HP Support Forums staff.

We encourage you to share your technical knowledge and tap into the vast experience of other community members. All members will learn more when reading messages of technical value, whether they are new questions or replies.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - December 2005

Steve,

Here is the third of Bill's "scripts" postings. In his opening post, Bill points out the other two:

Michael,

I have to agree with you. I see no reason for that post to have been removed!

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - December 2005

Michael,

I've only had one thread deleted and was warned in advance when that happened by ITRC management. In that case I did not receive the notice, which I find vaguely offensive, probably because special tools were used to make the thread go away.

I agree with you, but I got my post in.

What I do instead is post a think to the congrats thread in this thread. Thats good for about 10 visitors contrating the guy.

Drew is amazing, earning Olympia in the ITRC wilderness.

Pete,

Thanks.

The signs point to this being an HP-UX post.

Its sendmail, so I'm probably picking nits.

The location and name of the log file, the fact that syslog is showing audit messages and such make it a 99% certainty in my mind that this is HP-UX.

So maybe move it so more people see the post.

Remove this post:

same post again in that category.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - December 2005

Not that there have been a lot of threads to respond to this morning, but it seems that every time I do try to respond, it takes two tries. The first try I get "system unavailable", hit the back button and then the second try succeeds. Just slightly annoying.

P.S. Yep, this time, too.

Well - that's the first time this morning (6:00AM EST thru 9:30AM EST) that the post succeeded while giving me the "system unavailable" message!

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - December 2005

Hi,

I want to change my display name back to "Jasper Verweij", but after submitting I get error that my new name is already in use.

When looking in the forum member list I see no other ITRC account with my display name.

Maybe I created a duplicate account long time ago, but that one is not in use (only br135148)

Could you please contact me about this issue if a duplicate name exists or change my name back to "Jasper Verweij" (in stead of my current temp name "<< Jasper Verweij >>".

Thx,

Jasper

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - December 2005

Cheryl, Dan,

First: Happy new year.

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=988139

and

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=988143

are duplicates. Only the title differs somewhat.

No answers yet, but if they come before you remove one, probably best to merge them.

PS. In Europe at least December has ended. Time to start a January thread? :-)

Proost.

Have one on me.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - December 2005

Cheryl,

I have workaround my problem. I wanted to update my forum to "Jasper Verweij" (two spaces in between) and after submitting the logic removed my second space, but saved my new name!

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - December 2005

Hi Cheryl,

I've got a problem similar to Jasper's. I wanna change my email because i've moved to another company and cannot access my registered email, but it says the name is already in use. Could you help me to solve that?

Regards.
