POWERFAILED Message in Syslog

Hello All,

Going through syslog after the weekend and I notice I have an entry that I have not seen before on this system:

Mar 23 09:56:18 hp-docs vmunix: LVM: vg[0]: pvnum=0 (dev_t=0x1f016000) is POWERF
AILED
Mar 23 09:56:18 hp-docs vmunix: LVM: PV 0 has been returned to vg[0].

And that is all. It only happened once and for a split second. I think I saw this once before on another system but it used to happen all the time and only during backups. If I remember correctly I had to update the drive firmware and patch. Anybody have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

I've seen this before on my L-class (11.0), though not often but it bugs me. I applied the latest 11.0 LVM cumulative patch and it hasn't come back since. I doubt this is a serious issue, I suspect the OS wrongly reports the status of that particular PV, however you might want to doublec check STM for any hardware error. If none, I bet applying the patch should get rid of it.

Thanks, I ran STM on the drive and all looks well. This particular system is missing some critical SCSI/LVM patches so it's time to patch. Thanks again.
