Print Queue Management

I am looking for some software to run on HP-UX 10.20 to manage print queues.
We currently use LP Plus on a Sun server. I like the features but not the costs. What other products do you recommend?

We use HP's old Jetadmin on our older HPUX 10.20 systems, and the jetdirect print installer for unix on all our HPUX 11.X machines. Both products are free, but jetadmin is hard to find these days, as it is no longer supported by HP.

Hi,

You can take a look at HPDPS, the HP Distributed Print Service. It is being depracated in future versions of HP-UX, but then so is 10.20. :)

HPDPS is actually a nice product for managing print queues.

You can download the JetDirect Printer installer and print the install instructions. This, of course, is only good if you happen to have printers with either internal or external jet direct cards. There are hooks from SAM to this once it is installed.

We use UniQ Print from Macro 4. The version that we use on 10.20 also works on 11.*, so you should still be able to use it if/when you upgrade.

Just run the native spooler on HP with HPNPL E.10.18 Hewlett-Packard JetDirect Printer Installer for Unix

This is for a SAP installation with over 600 printers.

I also run it as a package under MC/Service Guard.

BTW, I found the url for the download of jetdirect for HPUX 10.20 I suugest you download it now, even if you aren't oing to use it now. (You never know what will disappear in July...)
