Printer problems with jetadmin I think?
K580 running UX 11.0 Jetadmin Unix Util Rev. D.06.21
printing to a Laserjet 8150DN
I configured the printer as a laserjet 8100 series in jet admin.
I have set the printer as the system default.
I type 'lp filename' at the Unix prompt and it gives me back a request id.
Here are the results from an lpstat -t command:
scheduler is running
system default destination: VANILLA
device for VANILLA: /dev/null
VANILLA accepting requests since May 16 15:51
printer VANILLA now printing VANILLA-86. enabled since Jul 11 08:36
fence priority : 0
VANILLA-86 root priority 0 Jul 11 08:21 on VANILLA
testfile.sh 1365 bytes
I've tried debugging thru the jetadmin command.
After canceling the print job I try the examine spooler operation from jetadmin and get the following:
Spooler:
OK (running)
VANILLA:
OK (accepting jobs); OK (enabled)
I then try to print a test page from jetadmin and it gives me the following and hangs until I hit ctrl-c:
===============================================
Sending a test file to 141.214.192.147 ...
Heres what my hpnpflog file looks like when I have logging on:
13:11:23 hpnpf[23281]
OpenLog: logging started (/opt/hpnp/tmp/hpnpflog)
13:11:24 hpnpf[23281] Process: entered
13:11:24 hpnpf[23281] OpenSocket: entered
13:11:24 hpnpf[23281] OpenSocket: using 16K send buffer
13:11:24 hpnpf[23281] MakeConnection: 141.214.192.147, port 9100
13:11:24 hpnpf[23281] DoNonBlocking: non-blocking on
13:11:24 hpnpf[23281] Connection has been set up
13:11:24 hpnpf[23281] connected
13:11:24 hpnpf[23281] Process: sending file /opt/hpnp/tmp/VANILLA
13:11:24 hpnpf[23281] SendFile: entered
13:11:24 hpnpf[23281] SendFile: 817 bytes read from host
13:11:24 hpnpf[23281] SendFile: 0 bytes read from host
13:11:24 hpnpf[23281] SendFile: 817 bytes written to socket
13:11:24 hpnpf[23281] SendFile: end, return succ
13:11:24 hpnpf[23281] DoNonBlocking: non-blocking off
I've tried deleting the printer and adding it back. Files are still not printing.
Any Ideas.

Have to get from website.

download to your pc (will show as hp11e118.sd..sd)
Use binary format to xfer to unix box
put mine in /tmp directory
then run swinstall
put in /tmp/filename above you downloaded
do the usual install analysis and install
afterwards you will see the product
J4189-11001B Hp JetDirect Printer Install
now log on as root
cd /opt/hpnpl/bin
type transferqueue local
answer all to convert que question

Re: Printer problems with jetadmin I think?
Hi David
It looks to me that you have no problems in the scheduler but there is something to do with external env ie the the printer , IP adress , also it may be possible that someone has assigned a same IP adress to a PC or something , check the status of the printer by unplauggin the network cable from the printer and pinging it on to the same IP Adress in case you get a postive response back then that is the problem .
