printer query

in /var/spool/lp/request some jobs are stucked and when I checked the printer status with lpstat printer is idle and no job was there in queue. lot of mails are coming to my ID saying Hung Print Jobs. Do I need to delete all the hunged jobs under /var/spool/lp/request?

Re: printer query

Don't "fix" it by removing files in the request directory (or anywhere else in lp without knowing exactly what you are doing).
You could really destroy your spooler subsystem. First, you need to determine what is actually wrong. Is the scheduler running? Have printers been disabled?

Execute "lpstat -t" to find out. Post the output if you don't understand what you are seeing.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

The printer was disabled.
