Hey,
I have a network printer and I wanna add it to my system using jetadmin. There is already a printer defined on the system which is exactly the same like this one. I just wanna make it same like the previous one like using the same printer type, etc. Can some one give me a hint how to do it. How can I view configuration of the existing printer on jetadmin. Can some one please guide me step by step process how to add it using jetadmin.

Solution
shutdown the spooler
lpadmin -pPrinter2 -mmodel_file -v/dev/null
(model file does not matter because we are going to copy it)
accept Printer2
enable Printer2
cd /etc/lp/interface
cp -p Printer1 Printer2
chmod 755 Printer2 ( if needed )
edit PERIPH= and PORT= in Printer2 for correct jetdirect host/IP and port#
cd model.orig
cp -p Printer1 Printer2
chmod 755 Printer2 ( if needed)
lpsched
lp -dPrinter2 -o nb /etc/copyright
DONE.

Re: Printer Spool
Make sure that you are collecting the printer id of printer1
â ¢ Collect queue information
#hpnpadmin -i ipaddressofprinter1
assume printer id is 268 on printer1
â ¢ Adding the printer2 queue
addqueue -h printer2ip -i 268 -b off -q qname (make sure that we get a message telling that added to spooler;-b for banner; -i for printer id)
#lpshed -v â a
#lpstat â r

Re: Printer Spool
Please note that jetadmin (obsolete for more than 8 years) is known as hppi and both versions only work with HP printers and a very small number of non-HP printers that explicitly state "HP JetDirect compatible". If you are adding such a printer, use addqueue. In it's simplest form:
addqueue -h 12.34.56.78 -q printer2 -b off -t off
The -i option to identify the printer is not needed as addqueue will identify the printer automatically. Note that if you are still using jetadmin, addqueue is also there with the same options.
