Printing Problems

I currently have a D-Class server with DEC 90M Terminal Servers connected to them over the network. The DEC 90M are being used as print servers. Every time a print job is sent after about 6 print jobs some of the printers hang and then need to reboot the DEC90M or restart the lp scheduler. Seemed to have checked everything possible from the printers to the DEC90M. May be a problem from the D-Class. Any ideas?

Can you slow the communication rate on the printer?

Are you patches up to date?
You didn't state what OS version your running.

If 11.11 look at PHCO_28259
If 00.00 look at PHCO_28320

Re: Printing Problems

BOB,

Are these printers setup as remote and using tcp/ip with print servers ?, or maybe some other method of connectivity!

Are the troublesome printers local to the network or on a remote site ?

If using TCP/IP have you tried doing soem trace or ping tests to ensure no icmp packets are dropped ?

IT may not necessarily be a problem woth the server or os, so you could check all angles.
