printing to a network printer
I have two HP-UX server's.
The old production server can print to a network shared printer called accthp5m, for instance.
Printing to the same printer from the new production server results in a 'waiting for accthp5m to come up' message.
I can ping the IP of the printer from both machines. And the print queue is enabled and accepting.

Re: printing to a network printer
hi,
to check if the print server device use for the printer support both lpr/lpd and port 9100:
# telnet accthp5m 9100
could also be firewall blocking that port from the old production server to the printer.
regards.

Re: printing to a network printer
Hi
Could it be that it is generated as a remote printer on the new machine instead of a network printer and the rlp is down.
If it is a network printer then use hpnpadmin like this.
hpnpadmin -v (network name or ip of printer)
bprn122 is a network printer
Printer State : ready to print
topaz is allowed access to bprn122
Check the allowed access
