printing to a non-postscript printer

Is there any way around to print from HP-UX 11.00 to a printer (HP1100A) that does not recognize PS? The printer prints okay only ascii files. When I want to print from e.g. Netscape, GhostView or Acrobat Reader - I get only the postscript code on the output from the printer (it is a network printer). Thanks a lot.

Re: printing to a non-postscript printer

You need a tool that can convert to what your printer understand. Some of the tools that I've heard of are :-
pageview, tscript, ghostscript

hope this helps a little ..

Re: printing to a non-postscript printer

Well, my printer understands only PCL and I am looking for a solution that will help to translate postscript to PCL. As I found out my printer cannot be upgraded to understand PS. Anyway, thanks for your time.

Hi,

I was going to give you some links for pcl2pdf but I realised that you need pdf2pcl, heh, stupid me. Well, I couldn't find one.

Re: printing to a non-postscript printer

I'm sure Ghostscript can do the job for you, ie converting from PS to PCL. Anyway take a look at this site and maybe there is something in there you can use .. good luck ..
