Problem about backup
Dear all,
I have a rx6600 server.I have backup the data by make_tape_recovery last week.
Now we will replace the I/O backplane from PCI-X to PCI-E,so the I/O patch will change,
I wonder can I still use the backup tape to recover system.
Or what else shall I do?
Thanks a lot!
Louis

Re: Problem about backup
Lin,
If it´s going to work is something that is not predictable in this case, but what comes to my mind is, if we just shutdown the server and then change the I/O backplane and then boot again, is the system going to boot?
Regards,
Jaime.

Work hard when the need comes out.

Re: Problem about backup
Hi,
Normally there should not be a problem if you are chaning the physical devices. But, recommendation is to take a fresh make_tape_recovery backup before you do that activity.
Have a copy of OS startup information before and after making changes to see the difference.
Also, do have a rollback plan for this activity.
Thanks,
Srikanth

Re: Problem about backup
The problem is the I/O path will change after we replace new PCI-E I/O backplane.
So can recover when I/O path changed?
