Problem Installation HP UX

Hi
I have installed HP-UX 11i on workstation c360 visualize.
The installation seems to be ok.
After the reboot appears the message:

----------------------------------------------
The System is ready
Generic System Name HP Realease B11.11
Console Login
**********************************************
*Starting Desktop Login on display hptest:0...
*Wait for the Desktop Login screen before logging
**********************************************
Console Login:

---------------------------------------------
But the monitor start flashing ON and OFF.

If I go on init 2. The monitor stop flashing.
I have tried to set the minimun resolution of the screen to:1024x768 60HZ but at the next reboot I have the same problem.
The workstation is not connected to a network.
I think there is a problem with the CDE.

I don't know what test I can perform.

what sort of screen are you using? was it an HP supplied one? I vaguely remember something about workstations not working with monitors that don't support 'sync on green' (although that was a *long* time ago!

I use a EVC to VGA adapter for my Acer 17" LCD.
I think is not a monitor proble. On init 2 it is all OK.

Re: Problem Installation HP UX

Is your monitor one of these?

Re: Problem Installation HP UX

hi,

its probably not the monitor but CDE as you think.

if you configured it as a stand alone workstation going through the setup, this is what may have caused it.

hit return to get a command prompt and stop cde starting or into init 2. Then configure it for networking give it Ip and default subnet.
either commandline and edit the networking files or run
#set_parms initial
and reconfigure as networked workstation, it doesnt need connecting to anything.

Then restart the workstation and hopefully it will beable to start cde correctly.

Also worth checking the firmware of the C360 to see if it needs updating.

check at pdc level with
in fv
