Problem using sam
I think I did a big mistake. I have restored a full backup of /usr from another
HP-UX 10.20 server to a new one fresh installed with HP-UX 10.20. But of course
/usr/sam has been overwrited and I think it's why sam doesn't work anymore. I'm
able to start sam but as soon as I go to a sub-menu, I get this kind of error:
UNEXPECTED EXIT: process LANG=C LC_ALL=C /usr/sam/lbin/samx -C -p 1716 -s
fs_sa_lv /usr/sam/lib//fs.ui exited with a non-zero exit status.
And in the file /var/sam/log/samlog, it looks like the following lines:
Tue Mar 9 09:52:52 1999 Entering SAM area "Disks and File Systems (lamdev)".
@!@8@920991172@0
Entering Task Manager with task FS_CHECK_ESSENTIAL_CMDS.

Tue Mar 9 09:53:33 1999 Exiting SAM area "System Administration Manager
(lamdev)".
Is there a way the fix this problem? Can I reinstall only sam from the HP-UX
10.20?
Thank you for your help.
David.

Re: Problem using sam
I believe you can reinstall or update all filesets using the install/core os
cd. I actually did this a while back, but am not sure of the process. Mount the
CD, and see what happens. Also ... I would NOT use SAM for any LVM or
filesystem activities, things do not go very well, and you fotget the command
line functions anyway.

Re: Problem using sam
1. Mount cd "install and core"
2. swinstall
3. menu View -> change software view -> start products
4. Select on the "Name" list "SystemAdmin"
5. menu Action -> Mark for Install
6. menu Action again -> Install
good luck !
