Problem with CDE
I have problem with CDE in HP-UX 10.20.
After loading system appears login screen.
Then I type login/password and "enter" to shell.
But shell work short time and system back to command line.
I didnt see any message.
Whats up?
This machine ( HP B180L) was stopped few days ago.
But once ( then station work without UPS) was broken power supplies.
Thanx in advance.

Re: Problem with CDE
try moving your user-account's "$HOME/.dt" directory aside (rename it), and then try to login again.
Does it work now?
CDE keeps hostname-information in that directory, and if your name-resolution changes, you cannot login anymore :-(

Re: Problem with CDE
Just to confirm, you are logging in to the command-line mode from the CDE login screen?
If it is not that and you have problems getting your CDE session up, then execute /usr/contrib/bin/X11/dr_dt, the diagnostics for CDE.
# /usr/contrib/bin/X11/dr_dt
Hope this helps. Regards.

Re: Problem with CDE
Technical Knowledge Base document KBRC00004688 (CDE Login Troubleshooting) is a checklist for general CDE troubleshooting. I've attached it for your convenience.
