Problem with rsync

Hi all,
I found out a problem using a particular version of rsync program.

Trasferring file between two machines with 1GB lan card rsync has poor performance and often it breaks the connection.

I did't have problem trasferring same files using tar in pipe with ssh.

These are version of rsync I used:
# swlist|grep -i rsync
ixRsync A.09.00-2.6.9.001 File Transfer Program

I had no problem with ixRsync A.08.00-2.6.9.003

Have you ever had same problem?
Do you have any idea about what is happening?

Take a look at the network traffic with tcpdump or ethereal/wireshark

I think your diagnosis is on the mark concerning the issue. If other network applications work well, then its either network/firewall problems (port could be blocked, try -e ssh) or bad software.
