problem with vgchgid

vgchgid hang or failed
is there patch that fix this problems ?
I am using HPUX 11.00
is a N class machine

there is a patch for lvm-command (inclusive vgchgid) for HP-UX 11.0 under
http://support4.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/patchDetail.do?patchid=PHCO_24645&context=hpux:700:11:00
Maybe this solve your problem.

Also make sure the devices that your are trying to run vgchgid on have the BCV ( FOR EMC ) or BC ( for XP ) attributes set .

Also all raw PV's devices for one vgchgid should belong to one VG .

I understand "hang", but was there an error message for "failed" ??

Also, it helps to know what kind of disk ew are talking about here?

Hi!

If the command fails... what error message is printed? Of course an LVM commands patch is a good idea.

If the command hangs, watch out for its priority (ps -el). With prio 148 (BIO) a hanging/faulty device may be the reason. Then you should try to access all raw devices with e.g. dd(1) to see if they are responding properly.
