When I secure shell from my client desktop and try to su to root it wont let me. Any reason why?

Try to login as root via console and see whats in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log

Check and se if you have a file called "/etc/limitlogins". we use this file to restrict su.

Also /etc/pam.d or equivalent can be hacked to prevent this.

Root login can be limited to console as well.

Are you the administrator or are you just trying to figure out how to log onto the machine?
