process hang up

Hi All,
I have Sun OS 5.6 server.It's been observed that one of the application process hangs up sometimes i.e. a listener process at Unix level.If i try to telnet to it on a perticular port where it is running, it does not happen.Please i wud like to know why this is happening because if i kill and start it then it works fine.

What kind of listener process, Oracle? Is this an application you or your company wrote?

You should upgrade your solaris to solaris 9.
