PV Alternate Link Problem

Hi,

I have a N4000 server with 2 Fibre Channel atacched on CX500 storage.

In my CX500 I have 5 LUN's and with 10 disks
5 disks - c50txdx
5 disds - c60txdx

When I run the dd command in all c50 disk paths it works, but when I run in c60 disk paths, only one disk in c60 fails.

Why only one device path has problems? I can run dd, diskinfo, pvdisplay in c50 but on disk c60t2d2 can't.

Thanks

Re: PV Alternate Link Problem

please run ioscan for disk and check about both path especially c60txdx is it claimed or not?

Your system have 2 path ( 2 fibre chanel connection). please check using fcmsutil to show about your link

thanks

Re: PV Alternate Link Problem

Hi Wilder,

Try to check this disk status in ioscan output, asper the discription mentioned here it seems that the disk at c60t2d2 is failed and need to be replaced.

Re: PV Alternate Link Problem

Wilder ,

You can check with # ioscan -fnC disk and check for NO_HW , if the disk is likely failed.

or check syslog.log for error.

Cheers,
Raj.

Re: PV Alternate Link Problem

Thanks to all.

My disk is CLAIMED and I can run command diskinfo. If my disk had problem, I would'nt activate my VG using c50t2d2 path.

So, my disk is ok. My fibre channel is ok, I have other disks using c60txdx as primary disk without problem.

SOLUTION: I rebooted the CX500 and the path c60t2d2 now can work.

Re: PV Alternate Link Problem

Hi,

Check the event.log output the disk may be going offline and coming back, event log will tell you if there are any io read write errors...
