Re: PV Timeout values
The default value is usually far too low, but increasing above 90 is quite okay, in fact up to 180 is fine particularly for Disk Storage Arrays, such XP 256, 512 EMC and autoraid. If you speak with HP, they will tell you 180 anyway.

Re: PV Timeout values
The answer is that it depends. For single disks the 60 or seconds is reasonable but for for arrays, I would go with 120 at a minimum and about 240 as a maximum. Somewhere in the 120-180 range is a rather value all around value for a disk array.

Re: PV Timeout values
is not related to database, but the disks being used.
For EMC disks here, i use
180 seconds, which should be a comfortable number to get a response from the disks.
You can set it to 180 and
observe.
Regarding lbolt errors,
pvtimeout is only part of the
story. If it is happening
often, you would need to
have a closer look at your
connections and disk subsystems. What disks are you using?

Re: PV Timeout values
If you are getting really frequent errors, even after changing the value, call HP as there could potentially be a hardware problem.

Re: PV Timeout values
Take a look at the threads below,
http://us-support.external.hp.com/cki/bin/doc.pl/sid=855d7a640c36f7f161/screen=ckiDisplayDocument?docId=200000048391490

Hope this helps.
Regds
P.S. : You should not be required to increase the timeout value that high. Maybe a change of some other kernel parameter or even a disk might help.
Thanks
